Do you tithe your worship?

email

Over a year ago, guest contributer Justin Mulder gave us a different look at tithing through intamcy.  Today, I wanted to take that view of intimacy to a different level…tithing our worship.

In our services at LifePoint Church yesterday, Senior Pastor Pat Hood brought a message on tithing.  He answered some great questions about tithes and tithing.  I want to take just a moment to take the tithing aspect away from finances and approach worship with a mindset of tithing.

Our worship is supposed to be an offering of rejoicement – given freely of ourselves.

1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.

(Romans 12:1 – ESV)

I think that, often times, we become complacent with giving our “offering of worship” to God through our worship on Sundays.  Whether it is a song, a verse, a prayer – our lives of “worship” seem to revolve around Sunday.  I am not speaking of a person who acts a certain way on Sundays and then has anything less than a spiritual walk Monday thru Saturday…I am referring to an innocent loss of offering up worship daily.

Do you offer up your first offerings of worship to God?  Do you give the first fruits of your worship back to God?  Do you have a time for personal worship – just you and God – each day or each week?  God gives us reasons each second to rejoice and offer worship – how much worship are we giving back to Him in celebration to what He has given to us?
